Meet the Founder & CEO! Michelle started AMIAS HR in 2015 with the passion ‘to help the little guy.’ In over 28 years of human resources experience (shhh, don’t tell her we told you - she still thinks she’s 27), Michelle has worked for some amazing Fortune 500 companies and gained wonderful and life-changing experiences, but over the years realized she didn’t feel these organizations really understood that true human resources means doing the right thing. Think about it. How often do people do the right thing when no one is looking? Not necessarily the right thing for the business or the right thing for the employee … but just doing the right thing. She isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, even if it means ruffling a few feathers along the way.
After Michelle put herself through college, gained a passion for hotrods and hockey, and then earned her degree (and then those fun little letters after her name), she started in the human resource field and quickly moved up the ranks, having the privilege of leading exceptional teams in those organizations. It was after many years of having conversations with owners, executives and amazing employees about the results of various organization’s human resource initiatives that Michelle realized her goal of helping people would be better served by working with small businesses who have the need, but not the resources, for a true human resource professional and rockstar HR team.
Boom! That’s how AMIAS came to be! And here she is still rockin’ it how many years later? You should look at the reviews – she is amazing!
Although Justice had dreams as a child of becoming a teacher, years later she came to realize human resources was truly the perfect fit for her. Whether she is training people on benefits, coaching a manager through a difficult employee issue or teaching a class on sexual harassment, she fulfills that childhood dream of teaching. Just don
Just don’t ask her about geography - it’s her kryptonite!
With a career that began with serving our country in the United States Armed Forces (we love our vets!), Justice is still surprised she chose to pursue human resources. However, it was a conscious choice for her, whereas many of her colleagues over the years just fell into the line more by accident. After many years in the field, Justice is still grateful and excited to get up every morning, and after a pot of coffee hits her system, practice human resources. In return, AMIAS is grateful to have her, the guiding star of the team, keeping this operation on the rails always with the best advice and zero judgement.

Bill joined AMIAS in July 2022 with a cross-country move to be closer to family and soak up a little desert sunshine. Speaking of the desert, Bill’s three desert island must-haves include beer, ice cream and classic rock music.
After working for a few tyrants, cut-throats and bloodsuckers (along with plenty of excellent colleagues, as well!) throughout his career, Bill decided it was time for a change. No, he still has not achieved his childhood dream of becoming a professional baseball player (Go Tigers!) - but fear not - that dream is still alive. He expects his call from the big leagues Any. Day. Now. In the meantime, enter AMIAS HR! Where the attraction is people who care. A welcome and refreshing philosophy Bill subscribes to 100% and currently applies daily in his team operations and on-site HR consulting role for our Las Vegas area AMIAS HR clients.

Meet Taura! Known as Hunny to her grandkids, Taura dedicates exceptional, seldom-matched energy to all she does. Bringing a unique combination of experiences to the AMIAS HR team, which just happens to includes sales, her vast business knowledge is unparalleled. A local to Las Vegas (well, since 2006), her honesty and attention to detail make her vital to helping AMIAS with growing our business development.
Taura incorporates creativity and strategic thinking in building warm, long-term relationships related to business-to-business sales, particularly with HR. She brings that same energy and inspiration to her family relationships. Along with her hubby, she puts their blended family of children and all those adorable grandchildren, first, representing exactly how family comes first at AMIAS HR.
While her job and family life keep her on her toes, Taura also finds time for other passions, including exploring new things and traveling. One of her best stories is about a trip to Cancun … it’s so good, we can’t even reference it here. So not HR appropriate … the best kind.

“Don’t trouble trouble, until trouble troubles you.” In other words, don’t go looking for problems – they’ll come to you soon enough on their own if your time and attention are needed! Sage guidance and the favorite piece of advice given to Lisa that she has never forgotten. As an elementary student, Lisa wanted to be a brain surgeon, but she believes chance, the right circumstances and the right people can inspire expanded horizons, goals or vision. Landing in human resources has allowed her supportive, reliable and funny nature to shine as an on-site consultant for some of our Las Vegas clients. If she had to describe to children what she does for a living, Lisa would tell them her job is helping to make sure people are happy, understood and proud of themselves in their work. She gives everyone a voice and coaches them to be fair and nice to others.
Asked what three words her friends would use to describe her, Lisa wondered if “smartass” is considered one word, or two. Ha! We love that sense of humor and agree with Lisa’s mantra: If you don’t laugh at yourself, you’re not getting the joke. That is why she fits right in with us here at AMIAS.
When she’s not working, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, spoiling her “cookie monster horse,” Chevy, (she’s a dressage fan) and cat brothers, Nico (the bully) and Roux (the red-headed sweetheart) all while rooting for her favorite sports team, the Las Vegas Golden Knights. It wasn’t until she was hired that we found out she has the same passion for hockey as our CEO! Go Knights Go! She also continues to brush up her French speaking skills (Allez, Chevaliers, Allez!) and likes collecting Disney cruise magnets, with Tiana and Moana being favorite characters. We are so lucky to have her.

Memories of her time in the workforce were fading during Alissa’s time spent focused on raising her family in recent years. Let’s be real - everything is a blur in the early years of parenting! It needed to be a special situation to lure her back in and working with Michelle and the AMIAS team is indeed special! Alissa feels very lucky to be part of the AMIAS crew, polishing up skills she had not used for a bit. She comes from a journalism and marketing background, giving a unique perspective on communicating with and helping people in the HR field.
Always learning, Alissa considers herself a permanent student and enjoys reading (preferably real paper and ink books rather than a screen but in a pinch she won’t be picky) and teaching herself how to design and DIY home renovation projects. The passion for paper and ink also spills over into staying organized. This may seem old fashioned, but Alissa (like Michelle, Justice and Steph) is all about analog with her paper planner instead of a digital calendar. Paper nerds, unite!
Sir Robert Baden-Powell, founder of Boy Scouts, once said “Try to leave this world a little better than you found it.” This is a favorite quote Sami endeavors to apply in his daily life, including in his role at AMIAS HR. Sir Robert Baden-Powell, founder of Boy Scouts, once said “Try to leave this world a little better than you found it.” This is a favorite quote Sami endeavors to apply in his daily life, including in his role at AMIAS HR. When he’s not working in an HR capacity, Sami walks the walk by volunteering as a tour guide docent at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park in Las Vegas and represents the park’s docents by serving on the SMR Board of Directors. He is obsessed with state and national parks and loves hiking trails and visiting historic sites.
As a kid, Sami was fascinated with the 18-wheelers and trucking life portrayed in movies like Smokey and the Bandit and Convoy and thought he might become a truck driver when he grew up. That sense of adventure clearly stuck with him over the years, because every day is a new surprise in the world of HR! And although it can be so easy to complain and lose sight of having gratitude, Sami chooses to focus on the positives of any given outcome. That outlook goes hand-in-hand with his choice of a hype song: Pocket Full of Sunshine by Natasha Bedingfield. With all of these tools in his back pocket, French est pres deson coeur.
A healthy sense of humor never hurts, either. Contrary to what is often depicted in television and movies featuring HR employees, a witty outlook is essential in our business! Sami is inspired by many comedians, including Shane Gillis, Tony Hinchcliffe, Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer. Maybe one of these days Sami can be persuaded inspired to recreate one of Bert’s illustrious hip hop dance routines???
Nous sommes tellement chanceux de l’avoir ici à AMIAS! Merci d’être avec notre organisation!

Cheers! To a life filled with passions that drive us forward. This is a favorite maxim of Lydia’s, and we’ll drink to that! In her formidable years, Lydia was passionate about helping people and dreamt of being a nurse. While in college, she realized her calling was indeed helping people, but within the field of Human Resources.
Lydia grew up in a little town in southwest Michigan, with two older brothers who taught her all about cars (more on that in a sec), and while taking a sewing class in high school she realized her passion for fashion. She brought home some sewing projects and asked her mom to entrust her with the sewing machine. After a trip to the fabric store, her mom watched her sew her heart out and Lydia became the “go-to” anytime her mom needed something sewed. Had she opted to pursue a career in anything other than HR, she would have chased a career as a fashion designer.
This may be why Lydia always imagined she would end up living on the east coast in her adult years. However, her HR career has taken her halfway across the country with a hop to her first job in northwest Indiana as an HR admin, followed by a skip to Salt Lake City, UT where she learned all things recruiting, then a jump to Riverside, CA before arriving here in Las Vegas.
Her happy place is the great outdoors, whether it be hiking, stargazing, or just soaking up nature’s beauty. To create a chill work environment during those times she can’t spend outside, Lydia turns on Lo-fi music to set just the right productive mood. Should she need a pick-me-up, she sips on Aspire (a natural caffeinated beverage) rather than coffee or tea. She also enjoys brewing her own delicious pineapple beer or getting in some target practice at the shooting range. Lydia still has a soft spot for cars that began in her childhood – anything from classic rides to souped-up speed demons. But she is particularly partial to sports cars with manual transmissions.
Although her AMIAS team finds her to be multi-talented, Lydia claims that despite having great respect for the industry, she would make a terrible bull rider. Her teammates are curious to know how exactly she has come to this conclusion but are inclined to think it’s the rodeo world’s loss and the HR world’s gain! Thank goodness and we are glad she is here.

Every day, in every way, I get better and better. This is the favorite inspiring adage, shared by his amazing wife, that James likes to keep in mind regarding his life, as well as his work with AMIAS HR. He stays active by participating in his HOA softball league and a club basketball team. It’s all part of the plan to achieve his elementary school dream of becoming a professional basketball player, and all the better if it happens to be with his favorite team, the Portland Trailblazers. The love of the game runs deep and if he had not pursued his career in human resources, he would have explored an alternative career as a basketball coach or scout. Don’t think HR must be boring in comparison to sports, though! James’ HR career took him to the Middle East, where he ended up working for ten years. Along the way, James has continued to expand on his HR expertise and became a successful certificate holder with the Association of Workplace Investigators. This is the official fancy way of saying he performs brilliant quality impartial workplace investigations. He is AMIAS HR’s own MI6 and FBI secret spy rolled into one.
James’ children and grandchildren bring him joy and in his off time he loves spending time with his family and friends, attending plays and concerts, and spending time outdoors exploring, hiking, hanging at the beach and boogie boarding. He also enjoys music and would like to learn how to play guitar. The first concert he attended was Chicago (CTA) at The Hollywood Bowl and he feels stronger everyday (sorry, couldn’t resist – so many good Chicago classics) working with music on, when possible, either alternative rock or indie.
Should he decide to write his memoir, the title is already decided: No, I Didn’t Eat the Last Brownie. Maybe because his current guilty pleasure is mango mochi?! Though there must be some entertaining stories that come along with that title, James could ultimately keep it short and sweet by summing up his life story in this single sentence: There is never a dull moment and I look forward to keeping it that way.

Hello, Hola, Bonjour and 안녕하세요 (Annyeonghaseyo) from Erika! Born into a Spanish-speaking family, Erika studied her first foreign language during twelve years of grade school French classes. She followed that up by mastering English at UNLV and has been exploring the Korean language for the past several months. Her talent for speaking and reading multiple languages, her remarkable interaction talent, and keeping her humanity front and center all aid her in collaborating well with a diverse group.
Inspired in her life and work by her maternal grandmother, Erika says her Mamama Alicia was always ahead of her time. Forward thinking like that is often not fully appreciated until it is viewed in retrospect, but that’s not stopping Erika from incorporating it into her job today. Something that has surprised her about her human resources career path is how, as an HR professional, it’s possible to change people’s lives. It also doesn’t hurt that she brings her unbeatable positive attitude with her to work every day. Fun fact: Erika loves color coding with colorful fine tip pens – it helps her stay organized. She is also a beloved fellow Paper Nerd – we just keep finding one another somehow!
The support of her family and close friends, who are always there to celebrate her successes, keeps Erika motivated to be the best version of herself so she can continue to make them proud. Being at home with her family and pets brings her joy and she enjoys dining out as a family, with her favorite guilty pleasures being all-you-can-eat Sushi at Umiya or Korean BBQ. As a fan of live music, Erika enjoys attending concerts; her favorites so far have been P!nk and Luis Miguel. She is also a sports fan and proudly roots for her favorite teams: the new Vegas Thrill professional volleyball team, our Vegas Golden Knights and her son’s soccer team. If she could choose a superpower, Erika says it would be flying, hands down. Efficient and economical travel – imagine that! That’s almost impossible to find anymore!
She shared that the best advice she has been given is, if you’re struggling to decide on a solution to a problem, just pick one, put all your energy into it, and stand by your decision. She also has a trick up her sleeve for turning a bad day at work around: stay focused on the bigger picture and search for a friendly face or voice to chat with when things aren’t going as planned. If it’s a bad day at home, blast some K-pop music and eat a BIG chewy chocolate chip cookie. Does anyone else think that in addition to her HR career, Erika could be an awesome life coach?!
¡Somos muy afortunados de tenerla aquí en AMIAS! ¡Gracias por ser parte del equipo maravilla!

Enlisted to take the reins of our AMIAS social media presence, Amya brings on board a fresh point of view and a positive outlook. In addition to her beautiful name (how serendipitous that she has joined AMIAS!), Amya imparts her role with a spirit of living in the moment. If her day isn’t going as well as she likes, she’ll turn it around by going for a walk and listening to music or fitting in a workout of Pilates or a spin class. She is currently listening to more R&B and Indie music, including work by Declan McKenna and Mumford & Sons. Oh, how times have changed since Amya’s first concert, but Selena Gomez will always have a nostalgic place in her heart.
Also, we have found another cherished paper nerd! Despite her proficiency with all things online, Amya prefers a paper calendar to a digital one so she can cross things off once finished. The pure sensation of accomplishment that comes with that rewarding action? So good. All our fellow paper nerds out there, reading this right now, relate to this exact feeling.
Influenced by movies like National Treasure and Holes that she watched as a kid, Amya wanted to be an archaeologist as an elementary student. Though things changed over the years, her innate curiosity led to a lifelong love of reading (she recommends Normal People by Sally Rooney and Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan) and enjoying nature while taking hikes. She is a big fan of Netflix (Gilmore Girls marathon, anyone?), Ohio Buckeyes football, and accept a Yahtzee challenge from her at your own risk: Amya is unbeatable! Spending time with friends and family and dogs brings her joy and just try to escape being inspired by her favorite quote; Dum spiro spero, Latin for While I breathe, I hope. Her support means the world to us at AMIAS.

Working with numbers is more than just a job for Erica. It has been a hobby since childhood when she would play with a 10-key calculator and had plans to become an accountant. In addition to over 20 years of working in collections and finance, Erica also helped share her knowledge by teaching college accounting and finance for 5 years.
Resourcefulness is in her blood and AMIAS is fortunate to have her as part of the team. If Erica were stranded on a desert island, she would choose matches or a lighter, seeds for vegetables and a knife as her three must-have items. So smart!
